Can’t I Use a Large Diaper Bag?

Sure, you can. There’s a vast range of traditional best backpack diaper bags out there that you can buy for trips and travels with your baby or toddler. A lot of them resemble tote bags or even purses with additional compartments. But here’s the thing:

Carrying the best backpack diaper bag in your hands or over your shoulder can get extremely uncomfortable, especially over long periods and distances. The biggest plus of a backpack diaper bag is that you can carry it on your back, as the name suggests. This means that not only is the weight concentrated on the strongest part of your body, but you can also walk hands-free.

Compare that to a traditional tote-style or purse-style bag. Sooner or later, they will cause back or neck pain. And even if the best backpack diaper bag has a strap that you can sling over your shoulder, the weight will cause you to adjust your posture, leading to tension in the tendons, muscles, and joints.

A diaper backpack bag is an ergonomic way of carrying weight. It frees you from the strain and muscle pain you’d get from carrying a typical best backpack diaper bag. Plus, you are free to pick up your toddler, push a stroller, or do whatever you need to do with your hands.

Why Can’t I Use a Regular Backpack?

You might be tempted to use a regular backpack that you already own. It’s up to you, of course. But ask yourself this; does it have insulated compartments or waterproof pockets? Is it made of easy-to-clean material? Does it have dedicated straps that allow you to attach it safely and securely to a stroller? You already know where we’re going with this, right?

Besides all the advantages mentioned above, the best backpack diaper bag will have compartments for storing carrying soiled diapers and dirty clothes. It will also have insulated pockets so you can take hot or cold food or drink whenever you and your toddler are on the go.

And then there’s the ergonomic aspect again. A well-packed and organized diaper backpack is not only practical, but it’s also good for your posture, and consequently, for your health in general.

Best backpack diaper bags let you spread the weight evenly; they allow quick and easy access to all the items you need for your toddler. All of which makes them much more comfortable and more functional than a regular backpack.

How Do I Know Which Backpack Diaper Bag Is Right for Me?

Your lifestyle and the needs of your child will determine which diaper backpack bag is best for you. If you are considering a purchase, you should focus on details such as:

  • Do you bottle feed or breastfeed?
  • Do you frequently use a stroller?
  • Are you traveling for an hour or a couple of days?
  • Do you have other older kids to take care of as well?
  • Do you leave the house regularly or just occasionally?

Stroller Straps

These are great if you don’t want to carry the backpack all the time. Simply attach the best backpack diaper bag to the stroller, and you’re good to go. Easy to clean

Diaper blowouts, bottle mishaps, and sticky post-snack fingers will make your best backpack diaper bag messy, so choose one that’s made of a water-resistant fabric that is easy to clean.

Storage Pockets

The more things you want to carry, the more storage pockets you will need. Make a list of all the items you need to take with you every time you leave the house, and then allocate them to a specific pocket or a compartment. This helps you keep everything in place and neatly organized, so you don’t end up with a jumble of items at the bottom of the bag.

Weight

The weight of your new backpack diaper bag should correspond with your body strength and stature. Some best backpack diaper bags can weigh over 2.5 pounds before you put anything in them. If you’re buying online, be sure to read the product description to find out the bag’s weight and choose a lightweight model if you prefer.

My name is Julie and I'm a young mother. For past five years, I'm working at local kindergarten as a teacher of Toddler Group (children between the age of 6 months to 2 years). This job can be quite messy, you have to change diapers every day. Despite this only drawback, I love it as I love children. Using baby furniture and supplies has become a part of my life. So a few years ago while being pregnant with my son, I started looking for possible baby stuff online. However, as I discovered, it's not so easy as it seems at first sight. Therefore, I decided to help other new moms and dads with my acquired personal and professional experience.
