With the introduction of iOS 15 and macOS Monterey last year, new capabilities to help you connect with others were available. Facetime is now more advanced than ever, particularly on newer Apple devices.
Here are some new Facetime options to help you get the most out of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Remember to share some of your favorite Facetime tips with us as well.
In the spotlight
Center Stage was released last spring, just before iOS 15, and has since been included with new iPads.
The front-facing Ultra-Wide camera moves with you thanks to machine learning, keeping you and everyone else in the picture.
Because I seldom stay stationary in video conversations, one of my favorite Facetime recommendations is Center Stage.
This functionality is presently only available on specific iPads, but it may also be available on Macs linked to a Studio Display.

Mode of Voice Isolation
Apple understands. We’re all busy, and finding a quiet area to take a call might be difficult. When you choose Voice Isolation mode, however, the microphone uses machine learning to locate and filter out any background noise.
For example, if it hears a lawnmower or a child sobbing outside, it will not interrupt your call. This will work on any iOS 15 or macOS Monterey-based iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
The mode of a broad spectrum
Wide Spectrum mode, unlike Voice Isolation, uses your device’s microphone to bring every sound into your call.
This function is ideal for musicians or anybody who wants to hear everything that is going on in their environment. This is compatible with any iPhone that has the A12 Bionic chip or later.
Mute notifications
Are you tired of other people chatting on speakerphone during your calls? Mute warnings serve as gentle reminders to unmute yourself if you’re speaking while on mute.
It saves you the trouble of saying, “OK, pal, you’re on silent!” over and over. On any iPhone, iPad, or Mac running iOS 15 or macOS Monterey, use Mute alerts.
