Popular social network TikTok wants to increase the number of videos users can upload. After an expansion last year, the company now tests a longer upload limit of 5 minutes with a small number of users.
TikTok users are currently allowed to share videos upto three minutes in length, which was set by the social media network in December 2020. This limit will be increased to allow videos of up to five minutes. The news was reported by social media consultant Matt Navarra, who shared a screenshot of the new upload limit on Twitter.
The screenshot shows that TikTok is slowly rolling out the longer upload limit to some users. The platform will notify those who have been selected to test the new limit by sending them a notification that confirms that it now allows video uploads up to five minutes in length.
Upload longer videos: You can upload videos up to five minutes from your device. Before you try the feature on your phone or tiktok.com, make sure that you are using the most recent version of TikTok.
Some users have uploaded videos that are up to 10 minutes in length. This is a sign that the company is still experimenting with the best limit before making it available to everyone.
Earlier this month, Navarra also reported that TikTok is implementing “TikTok Stories,” which, as you might imagine, will let users share photos that disappear after 24 hours — just like Snapchat and Instagram. TikTok later confirmed the existence of a new Stories feature in its testing, but no date has been set.
