Apple’s next batch of operating system improvements will be announced at WWDC 2022, which is only days away.
The iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 announcements will take center stage. Bloomberg reports today that Apple is contemplating “significant modifications” to the iPadOS experience to “satisfy pro users,” according to a fresh report.
New ‘Pro’ features are coming to iPadOS 16 soon.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also claimed over the weekend that iOS 16 will feature compatibility for the next iPhone 14’s always-on display.
With iPadOS 15 last year, Apple made minor adjustments to how users utilize iPad multitasking functions, but iPadOS 16 is likely to bring bigger improvements.
iPadOS 16 will, according to Bloomberg, “feature a revamped multitasking interface that makes it easy to identify what applications are active and navigate between tasks.”
In addition, the update will provide “new ways to handle numerous apps at once” as well as new ways to resize app windows.
The iPad’s next major software update, iPadOS 16, will have a redesigned multitasking interface that makes it easier to see what apps are open and switch between tasks, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the changes aren’t yet public. It also will let users resize app windows and offer new ways for users to handle multiple apps at once.
Apple is expected to release the update at WWDC next week, and it is characterized as “one of the largest updates.” In terms of multitasking and windowing functionality, Apple wants to make iPadOS more like a “laptop experience.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that iPadOS 16 would see significant modifications. Due to recent changes to the WebKit architecture, it’s possible that iPadOS 16 could have a new “multitasking mode” that would allow the iPad to have freely resizable windows for the first time.
