Instagram launched a new map experience this week, which is currently available to iOS and Android users. Users will be able to simply explore additional areas nearby and see what other people are sharing there with this enhanced experience.
Instagram already featured a feature that allowed users to navigate through other people’s postings on a map.
This feature, which has evolved into a method to locate a new restaurant, café, or even park, is now getting even more capability from the Meta-owned platform. Naturally, this functionality is built on the geotags that users may add to their posts and Stories.
To see what’s nearby, use the Explore tab to search for a specific location or touch the location tag on a post or Story.
The Instagram app then displays other popular areas on the map so you may view more posts and Stories published at those locations.
Instagram gives various simple filter choices, such as restaurants, cafés, events, pubs, and hotels, to make the search even easier.
When you find a place you enjoy, you may bookmark it for later, send a direct message to the owner, share it with someone, or even follow its Instagram account.
In a Story uploaded on the social network, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that the new map will help users rediscover local businesses.
Instagram has been working hard to deliver new features since its primary competitor, TikTok, has grown in popularity. Instagram announced a subscription function earlier this month to allow producers to monetize their content.
