Gurman claims that an iMac with an M3 processor is already in development and might be introduced later this year

The Cupertino corporation is already working on its third generation of silicon for Macs and iPads while we await the first batch of M2 laptops to be released.

Here’s all we know about the upcoming M3 iMac.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in the most recent Power On newsletter, an M3 version of the iMac is already in development.

It’s intriguing to know that Apple is already targeting its entry-level processor for a new iMac, even if it’s not known what kind of advancements or technologies this chip would feature.

In the short term, Gurman believes that Apple is working on a number of M2-powered computers:

The new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini models will all include M2 chips, as will the 14-inch and 16-inch models of the MacBook Pro, which will have M2 pro and M2 max chips, respectively.

The Mac Pro will have dual M2 Ultra processors.

Since the writer indicated Apple may be aiming to deliver new Macs in the next several months, the M2 processor may arrive as early as June. Here’s what Gurman had to say about the M3:

Since then, I’ve heard that the M2 chips aren’t the only one in testing within Apple. And if you’re waiting for a new iMac, i’m hearing an M3 version of that desktop is already in the works – though I imagine it won’t launch until the end of next year at the earliest. Also, for those asking, I still think an iMac Pro is coming. It just won’t be anytime soon.
