Apple updates Boot Camp with Studio Display drivers for Windows users

Following Apple’s unveiling of the Apple Studio Display earlier this month, numerous people wondered whether the new display would be compatible with Windows.

The business then verified that Studio Display is compatible with Windows, and it has upgraded Boot Camp to include Studio Display’s Windows drivers.

Boot Camp 6.1.17, which is now available for download, includes compatibility for the new Studio Display while running Windows via Boot Camp — Apple’s method for installing and running Windows natively on a Mac.

According to the release notes, the update also includes updated drivers for AMD and Intel graphics cards.

While a Studio Display may be connected to a Mac or a PC running Windows, there are certain limits. Center Stage, Spatial Audio, and the “Hey, Siri” voice command are all macOS-exclusive features.

According to Apple, Windows recognizes the Studio Monitor as a standard display, and the integrated webcam, microphones, and speakers all operate with Windows.

Additionally, the business warns that while the display features a 5K 60Hz panel, the resolution and refresh rate may vary according to on the computer’s hardware.

To update Boot Camp drivers on your Mac, use the Apple Software Update program by clicking on the Start menu while Windows is running.

It’s worth mentioning that, for the time being, Boot Camp is only accessible for Macs equipped with Intel CPUs. Macs equipped with an Apple Silicon chip may run Windows-only via virtual machines created with software such as Parallels.

Apple Studio Displays are now available for purchase, with pricing starting at $1599 for the base model.
