DigiTimes Asia reports while all eyes are on the iPhone 13 and the Apple Event that is rumored to be happening this month. However, LED suppliers for the upcoming MacBook Pro to say that shipments are on time.
Recent reports have suggested that there is a shortage of mini-LED and other components. However, industry sources say that everything is great for Apple. Apple will expand the range of devices with this display after launching the M1 iPad Pro with mini LED technology in early 2012.
Sources indicated that Apple will likely unveil the miniLED-backlit MacBook Pro series in November or October 2021. The total number of shipments for 2021 is estimated to be nearly 4 million units.
To increase the production of this new display, suppliers have invested millions of dollars. DigiTimes Asia reports General Interface Solution (Epistar) and Lextar Electronics (Lextar Electronics) are expanding as mini-led display demand grows.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman stated last month that the new M1X MacBook Pro would be revealed this fall. This is two years after the launch of the first 16-inch MacBook Pro. Rumors suggest that a new MacBook Pro would be announced in October or November.
Also, in August, reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said MacBooks, and not iPads, will mainly drive mini led panel shipments as he expects MacBook shipments to grow by 20% year-over-year or more in 2021 and 2022:
Mini LED panel sales are driven primarily by MacBooks and not iPads. In the last few years, MacBook shipments have not increased much. We expect MacBook shipments will grow by 20% YoY or more in 2021-2022 due to the adoptions of Mini LED panels, Apple Silicon and all-new designs.
Rumors are correct. The new MacBook Pro with a mini LED display will be Apple’s favorite notebook. Leaked images suggest that this notebook will have a new design reflecting current iPhones and iPads. It will also include a mini-LED touchscreen, a fast SD card slot, and finally, a 1080p webcam.
