If you’ve already installed the iOS 15 beta on your iPhone and run into issues, you might want to downgrade to iOS 14 until more stable releases are available. It’s easy to do if you have a Mac.

Now that the iOS 15 public beta is here, there is a slightly easier and more sensible way to test out the update if you’re not a real developer. It’s not a good idea to update your primary device.
iOS 15 is still plagued by bugs and instabilities. Third-party apps might not work after an update. You can resist the urge to update if you are able.
You don’t have to stick with iOS 15 if you have already updated. You can still downgrade to iOS 14 and it is possible, although the process may take a bit of time.
Before you get started
There are some things that you need to know before you downgrade. You won’t be allowed to use your Apple Watch if you have also installed watchOS 8 beta.
watchOS 8 doesn’t work with iOS 14. There is no way to downgrade your Apple Watch. It must be returned to Apple. The device will not pair with the iPhone.
You can also restore data from an archived backup after downgrading iOS 14 You won’t be allowed to retrieve your data if there was no backup created before iOS 15.
How to downgrade iOS 14
You can still downgrade to iOS 14 by purchasing a Mac. Follow these steps:
- OpenFinderOn your Mac.
- Lightning cables are used to connect your iPhone and Mac.
- Your iPhone can be placed into recovery mode:
- iPhone 8 and later: The volume up button should be quickly released. The volume down button can be quickly released. Hold the side button down until you see the Recovery mode screen.
- For iPhone models older than iPhone 5:Hold the volume down and top buttons until you see the Recovery mode screen.
- Click the button to be asked if your device needs to be updated or restored.RestoreClick the button. Now your iPhone will be wiped clean and iOS 14’s latest public version will be installed.
After the process is completed, your iPhone will restart with iOS 14. You can then either restore from a backup or set up your iPhone to be a new device. You can also downgrade your iPad from iPadOS 14 or iPadOS 14.
Windows Downgrading
A Windows computer can also be used to downgrade an iPhone or iPad. Simply follow the same steps listed above, but you’ll use the latest version of iTunes for Windows instead of Finder.
