Exclusive: As of right now, Apple has no plans to release a new, larger-screen iMac

Apple discreetly retired the 27-inch iMac – which was still available with an Intel CPU – with the release of the new Mac Studio and Studio Display.

While Apple confirmed to the press that the 27-inch iMac is no longer available, rumors suggested that a new “iMac Pro” was in the works. However, this may no longer be the case.

Apple presently has no plans to offer a larger-screen iMac in the near future, sources informed 9to5Mac.

The information comes from the same sources that informed us in advance about the intentions for Mac Studio and Studio Display.

As previously reported, Apple has been hard at work on the next generation of Macs powered by the new M2 processor, which will feature a new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini.

However, Apple presently has no plans to introduce additional high-end versions of its all-in-one desktop.

This is true not only for models with a bigger display, but also for those equipped with Pro, Max, or Ultra CPUs. According to information obtained by 9to5Mac, Apple is developing a new 24-inch iMac that is slated to launch in 2023.

However, similar to the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro, it is unlikely to have Apple’s high-end CPUs.

Naturally, keep in mind that Apple’s intentions are subject to change, and this does not exclude the corporation from considering alternative iMac configurations in the past.

However, our sources indicate that Apple is now concentrating its efforts on pushing Mac Studio and the future Apple Silicon Mac Pro to its professional users.

Bloomberg said this month that Apple may announce new Apple Silicon Macs at WWDC 2022 in June, with further Macs following by the end of the year.
