Apple addresses ‘no sound’ issue on some iPhones 12 and 12 Pro

Apple claims a new service program will fix sound issues that iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro users have when making or receiving calls. This is the first service program available for the iPhone 12 Series.

Calling it the “iPhone and iPhone 12 Pro Service Program for No Sound Issues,” Apple said the effort will deal with a limited number of problematic devices manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021.

Apple’s Friday documentation noted that “very few” iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models may have sound problems due to a component failing on the receiver module. Apple stated that the affected units don’t emit a sound when receiving or placing calls.

How to deal with a ‘No sound issue’

iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro owners with sound issues can bring their devices into Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. They also can contact Apple Support to arrange mailing in the device for service.

Apple’s standard terms and conditions apply. Before service, devices will be inspected. Users may need to repair any damage that might prevent the audio fix from being completed.

Two years from the date of the first retail sale, the program covers iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro devices.

Apple stated that the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Mini are not included in this program.
