Windows 11 has arrived, bringing with it improved security and a brand new design. Microsoft’s newest operating system has the same strong security and stability as Windows 10, but with a prettier, cleaner-looking shell. So far, the transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11 seems to be seamless and simple, but many people are curious about how long it will take.

Let’s see how long it takes to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

How Long Does it Take to Update to Windows 11?

The update time to Windows 11 is a very subjective number, and it depends heavily on the power of your machine and its current state. On average, you can expect to update to Windows 11 in, 15 to 30 minutes.

In our testing, we used a new install, which is usually quicker than an update. We utilized an i7 CPU, SSD, and 4GB of RAM on a computer. We were able to execute a new install using that configuration in 8 minutes.

What factors will change Windows 11 update time?

Your CPU and Hard Drive are the two most critical elements in Windows 11 update time. The faster you expect Windows 11 to update, the more powerful your CPU.

If you have an SSD hard drive, you should anticipate substantially quicker install and update times than if you have a traditional disk drive. Fortunately, most modern machines now include SSD drives.

The current state of your computer may also be a factor. If your system is infected with viruses or malware and is presently performing exceptionally slowly, the Windows 11 update procedure may be slower than usual. In this instance, a new installation could be a good option.

There are some minimum system requirements for Windows 11. This implies that if your system does not meet the following requirements, you will be unable to install Windows 11.

  • Must have 4GB of RAM or more
  • Your processor must have two or more cores
  • Your processor clock speed must be 1GHz or higher
  • You must have at least 64GB of storage

We hope you found this information useful and that your Windows 11 upgrade went well!
